About this site

So, why this site???

Well, I am a big fan and supporter of the game of "Aussie Rules". I grew up around a football club, where my dad held just about every position in the club at some time. The game is so much a part of my youth that I can't think of it without thinking of Aussie Rules.

I find the game itself to be very exciting ... most games, that is. Like everything in life, it isn't always perfect. But the high flying, the speccie marks, the fast and skilled players ... these are the things that make the game. ('Course, the cute guys don't hurt, either!!!).

Because I'm so obviously from SA (well, if you hadn't realised that yet, now you know), a lot of people are asking me ... Adelaide or Port? And my honest answer is ... I'm not telling. Or perhaps ... both. Because, whilst the game is about skills, speed, talent etc, its also about "the others". The opposition. Those interstate from us or even just across town. Aussie Rules brings out some great qualities. Loyalty. Parochialism. Healthy (non-violent) rivalry. And during the two showdowns each year? Well, I'll leave that as my little secret.

But I didn't want to do a site dedicated to just one team. Because the game of Aussie Rules is about more than just clubs. So, I dedicate this site to :

All those who play the game. Whether they play in the highest league in the land (AFL) or the country leagues. Those who spread the word of the game - locally and internationally. Those who support the game each week. Whether its the nicest day or pouring with rain (or even hailing). Whether it's boiling hot or freezing cold.

But above all, I dedicate this site to the game. Because, at the end of the day, its the game that matters most.
